Outfit

Dressing a character

Add a garment, place it, fit it and adjust tightness and fabric. Optionally simulate cloth.

Garments go through four steps: Garment, Place, Fit and Adjust. Open Outfit on the rail to start.

Add a garment

  • Pick a starter garment or a Library item and add it, or add one from a file. You can also drag a Library item onto the viewport.
  • Importing a file that is not a character offers Garment as the job on the start card.

The Outfit panel has three tabs: Garments, Hair and Accessories. Remove a worn item with Remove.

The four steps

1. Garment

  1. Check the category. The app shows its guess on one line. Press Change to pick from the grid.
  2. Keep file size keeps your mesh as it is.
  3. The Clean up card (remesh to clean quads) is opt-in and off by default.
  4. Press Next: Place.

2. Place

  1. Match pose runs when the stage opens, on the body as it stands.
  2. To dress a posed body, pose it with the viewport handles and press Match pose again.
  3. If the orientation is unsure, Flip and Turn appear. Use them until the garment faces the right way.
  4. Press Looks right to confirm. Reset Pose returns the body to rest.
  5. Press Next: Fit.

Advanced holds tightness by region and automatic adjustments.

3. Fit

The garment is fitted in layers on the Match pose result. It stays on screen while it fits and progress shows in the card. Press Next: Adjust.

4. Adjust

Option Choices
Tightness Snug, Regular, Loose, Oversized
Fabric Cotton, Denim, Knit, Leather, Silk, Wool
Simulate cloth On or off
Colour and material Change the look of the garment

Changing tightness or fabric refits or redrapes the garment. Press Done. The garment is selected in Modify.

Simulate cloth

Simulate cloth is the one cloth switch. With it on, the garment moves with physics using the Fabric you chose. With it off, the garment follows the body by its skin weights. The cloth runs on the GPU.

Layers

Garments stack from inner to outer. The Layer tab in Modify sets a garment’s place in the stack. Garments fit together in one step by default. Tuck-ins only reach garments already fitted underneath.

Edit a worn garment

Select the garment in the viewport or in the Outfit list. Modify shows Fit, Fabric, Material and Layer.

Save

Use File > Save Garment to Library to reuse the garment.
