Character
Pose and clips
Pose a rigged character with joint handles, play clips and check how garments move.
Open Pose on the rail to pose and animate a rigged character.
If the character has no rig, the panel says “Nothing to pose” and “Rig the character first.” See Rig and skin weights.
Pose by hand
- Choose the Pose tool (shortcut P).
- Drag a joint handle in the viewport.
- Turn on IK limbs to move a whole limb by its end.
- Use Show the skeleton to see the bones.
- Press Reset pose to return to rest.
Advanced holds the joint sliders.
Clips
The timeline and clips are in the Pose panel. Play, pause, scrub, loop and change the speed from the timeline. Clips from the Library are retargeted to your character.
Clips and cloth
With Simulate cloth on, a playing clip does not run the cloth live. The cloth runs through the clip once in the background and is recorded, so playback is smooth. While that runs, or with Simulate cloth off, garments follow the body by their skin weights. See Dressing a character.
Posing for garments
Use the same viewport handles to pose the body before Match pose in the garment flow.
